I had been on a few exchanges before as well, therefore I knew how exchanges had shaped me. But it was February, a month of looking back when I realised that everyone who goes on exchange benefits from it. "Wouldn't it be great to find out what other young people from the world have gained thanks to their exchange experiences? I would love to read about them!" - I thought. So I took my thoughts forward and I came up with an idea to create a book consisting of stories of 100 young people who participated in youth exchanges of any kind.

I created a facebook event explaining my idea and I have received a very warm response from people. A month later my close friend, Joanna, secretly sent the video explaining my dream to publish the "Power of Exchange" book to a "Życie bez ograniczeń" (eng: life without limits) contest and thanks to many people voting for our idea we were granted realisation of this dream - funds to publish the book! Since then Joanna has been working with me. In May 2015 our team grew thanks to the arrival of Dorota and we have been working together to collect the stories, promote the book and have it published, so that the whole world could realise the Power of Exchange! :)

My name is Jakub. Let me tell you how and why this initiative with "Power of Exchange" book started.

It was February of 2015 when I had just finished my term as a person responsible for voluntary educational projects of one international student organisations in Poznań. During the previous 10 months we had managed to welcome 109 foreign students to Poznań and whole Lubuskie and Wielkopolskie voivodeships where they led classes for children in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, high schools and summer camps. I have seen with my own eyes how those young students as well as pupils found in themselves the potential to break language barriers, grow as people more aware of themselves and the world as well as strongly willing to contribute to the local environment around them!

Why do we do it?

it is a life in a year"
